Mexico Under Siege
From 2007–2022 Mexico’s war with its drug cartels had taken the lives of more than 400,000 men, women and children. As a consequence, millions escaped to the U.S. Legions more are on their heels. To show the causes, I solicited the help of local Mexican journalists in Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, Culiacan and Reynoso. They helped me identify cartel operatives hidden in plain sight so I could focus on soldiers, police, victims, survivors and forensic investigators. The slaughter was always just around the corner.
